Winter means skin care challenges galore. Between the constant cold, exposure to wind and elements, and the dry heated air, it’s no wonder that your face is utterly stripped of moisture. To avoid rough skin this winter, we recommend the following tips:
- Drink Lots of Water
Good hydration is important year-round but in winter, it’s easier to forget that your body needs it to function well. Instead of reaching for that hot tea or coffee, try swapping out a few beverages with warm water with lemon to ensure that your skin looks and feels great. - Exfoliate
During the winter months, it’s easy for your dead skin cells to build up on your face contributing to that dry and flakey look. To combat, use gentle exfoliating products such as glycolic acid to breakdown cell bonds to make it easier to remove dead skin and debris. Our favorite method is to use a rough washcloth or facial scrub once a week to avoid aggravating sensitive winter skin. - Moisturize
After exfoliating, you’ll need to apply moisturizer. Depending on your skin type, heavier creams are better for those that suffer from severely dry skin and lighter moisturizers are great for those with sensitive skin. We recommend cleansing your skin in the morning and again at night, and moisturizing each time to prevent dry patches.
While skincare is always important, taking care of your face during the winter months is key to looking your best. At Mens Spa Salon, talk to our team about how we can help you adjust your routine today.
